The Difference of a Doula Team
There for You
With a shared on-call schedule there's a comforting assurance that one of us is dedicated and available to you, whenever labor begins. This helps in providing consistent and reliable support, and ensures that the doula attending is well-rested and ready to assist.
Familiar Faces
With a doula team, you get the advantage of having two familiar faces who are well-acquainted with your preferences and needs. This eliminates the need for a backup doula in case of unforeseen circumstances. With two doulas who know you well, there's a seamless transition in case one doula cannot make it due to illness, emergency, or conflicting schedules.
Collective Wisdom
The combined knowledge and skills of a doula team offer a broader range of expertise. Each doula brings their unique experiences and insights, allowing for a richer pool of resources. We share our wisdom with each other and you.
The Doula's Role
The word “doula” is a Greek word meaning “female servant”. In the simplest of terms, we serve pregnant and birthing mothers. Birth Doulas provide non-medical physical and emotional support throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the early postpartum period. As birth doulas, our role is to be exactly what each birthing mother needs at each moment. We are a continuous and calming presence during the labor and childbirth experience and aim to create and foster an environment tailored to the mother’s unique wishes. By getting to know our clients thoroughly during prenatal appointments, we anticipate and adapt to the mother’s needs based on her individual preferences, history, and perspectives. We provide unbiased, non-judgemental, and evidenced-based educational resources to guide the often overwhelming decisions faced in pregnancy and birth. Birth doulas complement the roles of the medical care team and birthing partner by providing holistic support that addresses the non-clinical aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.
